The Garmin GPAMAP 540s is a marine receiver that really packs a punch.
The 540s comes with many built-in functions and has the compatibility for upgrades and expansions. The 540s is the ultimate navigator for any adventurous boater who loves to explore the waters or for the boater who simply wishes to safely navigate from one place to another.
The Garmin 540s chartplotter uses a ultra-bright and clear full color 5 inch QVGA display with 640 x 480 pixels that lets you easily differentiate between bottom detail and fish. The 540s allows you to view your position with accuracy to within less than three meters by use of it's accurate, WAAS/EGNOS-enabled GPS antenna.
THe Garmin GPSMAP 540s is equipped with a built-in satellite-enhanced worldwide basemap with detailed offshore maps with BlueChart coverage of the USA and Bahamas. You are able to take this a step further by enhancing the 540s's mapping capacities with features like high-resolution aerial reference photos for help navigating around and through channels and harbors, or for finding locations like nearby marinas or other points of interest (POI).
The Garmin GPSMAP 540s also boasts the g2 Vision Card which allows it to give graphical depictions in a 3D mariner's-eye view, or 'fish-eye' underwater perspective.
The 540s adapts itself easily to various conditions using a choice of dual-beam or dual-frequency sonar to clearly show depth contours, fish targets, and underwater structures. The unit comes equipped with a 50 kHz to 200 kHz transom-mount transducer that pierces the depths for the best saltwater performance.
The Garmin 540s include a built-in CANet connectivity that allows it's sonar data to be shared with other chartplotter displays you may have onboard.
This unit is sturdy and durable, weighing in at two pounds, and measures 6.4 x 5.9 x 2.9 inches, so that it can be easily placed anywhere one desires.
